With two paper machines, the annual capacity is more than 220,000 tons. The products are comprised of test liner board and corrugated medium paper both kinds are made from 100 % recycled pulps.

Paper machine number 1 (PM#1) is the first machine supplied by Black Clawson. The machine speed is 380 meters pre minute and the wire width is 3.65 meters. The trim width is 3.05 meters. This machine is mainly producing corrugated medium paper.

Paper machine number 2 (PM#2) is the latest paper machine supplied by Voith-IHI with many high technologies such as shoe press technology, distributed control system(DCS), quality control system(QCS). It is capable to produce both test liner board and corrugated medium paper. The design speed is 630 meters per minute with 4.85 meters wire width and 4.32 meters trim width.

In addition to the use of high technology machines, Total Productivity Management (TPM) has been applied to sustain our continuous improvement in term of reliability, maintainability, operability, safety, flexibility, and quality. Our customers can be ensured of consistent quality of our products.

The United Pulp and Paper Co., Inc has been an avid supporter of energy conservation programs ever since its operation began. A consistent recipient of Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Award and a Hall of Fame awardee for that same category proves that UPPC is indeed an energy conscious company.

It is through this guiding principle of TPM that a lot of projects have been geared towards elimination of unnecessary process activities. It is equated that by eliminating activities that are not necessary in the operating process, certain advantages such as conservation of energy can be realized. From here, projects such as water recycling, steam and condensate improvement, Steam to Fuel ratio optimization, re-designing process flow for optimized runnability, simplification of process flow, increase speed of Machines, and improvement of preventive maintenance to avoid unscheduled shut downs were initiated and implemented. These are just the tip of the iceberg. Projects such as these were able to generate some savings at the minimum of 1.5 Million Peso a year.

Of all the projects being done by UPPC, the biggest was the CFB project. This allows the company to save at least 400 Million Peso a year for fuel savings. This allows the company to use coal and other biomass being generated by UPPC as fuel instead of using non-renewable fuel such as Bunker oil.

Indeed, UPPC is serious about the impact of energy conservation. This can be seen by its numerous projects and ample awards. It’s never cheap to be energy conscious but the rewards to be reaped are more than the cost of not doing anything.
