Our people are our competitive advantage. Guided by UPPC's core principles and through dedication, teamwork and innovativeness, our people make sure that we meet our partner's demands for high quality products and efficient services.
UPPC’s string of awards for the past two years, 2006 to 2008, reflects the company’s commitment towards issues that go beyond its usual business.
In 2006, UPPC was awarded the Philippines Social Security System’s “Balikat ng Bayan” (Top Employer) award. The award is given to companies that best contributed to the attainment of the agency’s mandate of providing meaningful social and economic protection.
As a testament to the awards received by UPPC, below are the programs they are currently implementing to cultivate and hone the potentials of the employees to contribute not only to the company’s growth but also to its business partners.
Employee Development and Engagement Programs
UPPC continually invests in no small way to the total and continuous development of all its employees. This is in line with SCG’s belief that its people are its most important asset; hence, employees are given the opportunity to develop, widen the breadth of their knowledge, and equip themselves in utilizing the newest technological innovations and research to create more value for customers and other stakeholders.
In late 2008 and early 2009, UPPC, taking its cue from SCG, saw two of its young Assistant Managers seek technical scholarships in major universities in th US. Frederick Tan is now on his second term for the degree in MS in Paper and Imaging Science and Engineering at the Western Michigan University. Ariel Domingo is now on his first term for his Masters in Supply Chain Management at the University of Michigan. Additionally, two scholarship applicants are being considered – this time for the SCG MBA scholarships.
UPPC also invested significantly in short-term training programs through its partnership with the University of the Philippines and collaboration with the SCG Academy. In fact, UPPC sent 24 of its supervisors to a 3-day Supervisory Development Program developed and run by the University of the Philippines.
UPPC also participated actively in SCG Academy programs, notably the VR SCG International Program, The BCD Program, and the SCG Orientation International Program which was hosted by UPPC.
