(UPPC), a subsidiary of SCG Paper and the paper and packaging arm of SCG in the Philippines, is the country’s leading manufacturer of high quality and cost efficient industrial grade paper namely Linerboard and Corrugating Medium generally used for Carton Packaging Products. Annually, the company’s Paper Machines produce 220,000 Metric Tons of both Linerboard (KR) and Corrugating Medium (CM).
As the Philippines industry leader, UPPC is also responsible in reaching out to its customers (box-makers) in implementing After Sales Service programs such as knowledge sharing to protect the environment by machine improvements and cost efficiency.
CONCERN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. UPPC has one of the most environmentally-sound paper Manufacturing operations in the Philippines. It uses 100% RECYCLED paper and its Effluent Treatment Plant is among the most advanced in the Philippines. UPPC has received various awards given by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DENR) Regional Industrial Ecowatch Program achieving a second Green Rating to qualify for the silver award for its invaluable support and contribution to environmental activities and the commitment and dedication towards environmental performance and compliance.
Apart from this, SCG monitors economic, environment and social responsibility performance by following Global Reporting Initiatives Guidelines (GRI) – determined by its own SCG Sustainable Development Committees. In line with this, as subsidiary of SCG Paper, UPPC has conformed with the same practice here in the Philippines.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE. The UPPC manufacturing complex is powered by its own 24-megawatt cogeneration facility and 130 tons/hr state-of-the-art Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Boiler utilizing coal, waste paper sludge, and bio-fuels like corn cob and saw dust. UPPC continues to significantly contribute to national development through its reliable supply of quality packaging materials and energy efficient and environment-friendly operations.
